Hello all! My name is Andrew, and I am a professional chef from Memphis, TN. I have been tumbling for a few years, but only in the last 6 months have I kept my tumbler going consistently.
My daughter and I have quite the large collection of locally found rocks I plan on polishing in the future. As far as what I have polished, its mainly been the mixed bags that come with the tumblers. Every batch I always throw in a couple of our locally found stones.
I'm sure I'll have more questions than knowledge to share, but I hope to change that here!

chef89red hello from the other side of the state. There is an agate similar to Crowley's Ridge agate (Arkansas) in the streams around Memphis. I stopped at a rock shop years ago while doing some work in Memphis. They did not give me a name for the agate. I am thinking it was in the Germantown area of Memphis. What I was told it was in the streams in the area which puts the agate younger than the cretaceous. Also, I have read that the gravels along the Mississippi have occasional Lake Superior agates.
