I got the slab from Tony through a Full Moon auction. 3/10 inch thick. I laid out 5 preforms. The biggest one fractured. I should be able to get something from the fractured piece. Soft material without a high polish but I like it. I redrew the fractured piece with two shapes because I wasn't sure the larger would fit with knife edges. It did.

Interesting material.
I think that this is the first time that I've seen a size reference for your preforms. Are these sizes typical? My impression from your prior photos without a size reference is/was that you typically work with larger cabs.

Most of my cabs are 25-45mm in height. The preforms pictured are 30 mm and 45mm in height. The triangle has 35mm sides and 30mm height.

I see some easy freeforms on both of the broken pieces, but we all know that you’ll create something amazing.
Interesting stuff. I don’t know that I’ve seen yellow fluorite before. I know that it exists in almost a dozen colors, but I’ve only seen purple, green and white/clear. Any ideas what causes color changes? Heat? Impurities?

There are a log of different fluorites. I like the pattern on the Mongolian. I bought a smaller piece previously at full moon. It can fracture on the saw. Other than being soft, it is not difficult to work. The previous piece had the crisscrossing lines. This piece has more variety. Except for one cab I saw, most of them are blobs.

Yes, I’ve found fluorite cabs are fast: soft, but it takes a nice polish
I do know it’s variable, but it don’t often see the other colors. I’ll keep Mongolian in mind
