just sharing some of the latest cabs I've done. several are of unknown material so any help with ID is much appreciated.

First up is two from unknown material. I think it looks similar to starry night jasper but pretty sure thats incorrect. including pic of the slab in case that helps with ID.

another of unknown origin-

A next two are unknown material from the same slab. the oval one you can see has some deep pitting but still like it.

this is the last one backlit. the pattern is made up of tiny dots, like the pointillist painting technique.

these next two still need some work on polishing and hoping someone can ID and maybe share some tips on polishing it. I get major undercutting/ orange peel across entire cab after 600 wheel. slab pic included.

this one was sold as ocean jasper on Ebay from a very reputable seller but looks nothing like any OJ I've seen. didnt spend much so either not OJ or just a much less sought after form of OJ. cab has some flaws that may try to clean up later but still really like this cab. including pic of slab too in case helps with ID.

Imperial Jasper-

this is Mahogany obsidian, I think.

these last two are also from unknown material. obviously a moss agate. love the color variety of the moss.

Thanks rockjunquie! Sonora Sunrise was only thing I could think of with that combo of bright colors. always see much nicer examples of it and didnt think about it being low grade. same with the OJ lol. thanks again!

I didn't mean to disparage it at all. But, one usually associates both of them with different looking stones. Yes, the sonoran has really bright colors! Love it! One of my favs along with OJ.

I didnt take it that way. I jjst meant to say it should have occurred to me that maybe it was lesser quality sonoran versus something completely different. same with me doubting the OJ was actually OJ. even tho I trust the seller. lol. thanks again for the ID help. my knowledge only extends as far as what I buy it as and I like to have accurate names for a material.

those two are my favorites also. they were the endcuts from same rock and always wanted to cab them but would have taken way too long with dremel. really enjoy cabbing endcuts now. bit of fun surprise to see what you end up with. I always just threw the endcuts and small halves in the tumbler butI'm gonna have to dig around and pull some more out to cab

I would say that the OJ has a lesser grade, but objectively the quality looks fine. I personally love the combo of the moss and the orbs floating in clear agate.

I really like the OJ but kinda bummed about the internal fracture popping up. was thinking about trying to grind it out but afraid il lose alot of the moss detail and the small yellow orbs in the process.
