here is what i finally finished for a friend's 40th birthday party tonight (not cutting it TOO close, eh?). the "book matched" earrings i'm real pleased with, i took a cube of tigereye, tumbled it, then sawed it in half and tumbled those pieces. the pendant almost has some blue in it like hawkseye. sorry the pictures are a bit washed out, it's a very grey day here and i had to use the flash to try and get the highlights to show. thanks for looking!! Do the earrings have bell caps or those studs, I can't really tell. Either way, those are absolutely stunning. Your girlfriend will love them. You did a super job ... lol and yeah, that was cuttng it pretty close. Have fun tonight!

bell caps on the earrings, stud on the pendant. i had tried to top drill 2 other sets and the stones were just too thin, cracked one (made a small pendant out of the other), and the other set just didn't look right, they will become pendants as well. live and learn, didn't want to risk the last pair of rocks, so i played it safe and went with the caps.
thanks for the comments!

That is really pretty set. She will probably like that a lot.
Were the earrings hard to make? I'd like to learn how to make some earrings one of these days.

actually, and much to my chagrin, she had to ask what it was......and she is a beader!!
maybe she had never seen that stuff in such large pieces? i hate to say it, i think she liked the ribbon it was wrapped in better than the present. oh well, the food was good and the bar was open....

Sorry your friend missed the beauty of the pieces. You did a great job, we appreciate it here! Tiger eye is one of my favourite stones... I think it was probably the stone that most inspired me to get into rock tumbling.

She had to ask what it was? LOL Sounds like she'd already had a few too many glasses of bubbly, unless you had the ear wires hidden? *smile* Least you had a good time, never fear my dear friend, they were absolutely gorgeous and you did a beautiful job.

KD she was just in awe!!! I showed my Sister 3 necklaces I had done- She loved em all and I said keep em- She did not know waht to say- (actually she had tears in her eyes) I find when people are wow'ed over a gift they tend to forget how to act! Plus the bar was open!
