Cut this rock the other day. Not sure but definitely looks to be Azurite with some spots of Malachite(?) The rock is brecciated and looks like the fill between the pieces is Chalcedony. Not sure how it will hold together. Going to polish the end piece I cut off on the Vib Lapto see what kind of polish it will take. The leftover rock that I will glue onto wood will probably cut out 4 or 5 more slabs. The pictures do not do justice to the color. IMG_2196 by Findrocks, on Flickr IMG_2194 by Findrocks, on Flickr

I’m astounded with what all comes from the earth. Almost to pretty to look at.

When I first cut the rock the color inside was totally un-expected as the outside surface did not show any color. Will be curious to see how it holds together and how well it polishes.

Looks like nice chrysocolla and may even have some gem silica in the mix.

Usually holds up pretty well when it has that much visible quartz. In between the obvious open fractures, that is.
That's a very nice piece!

Holy smokes. It's not just the colors, but the patterns are astonishing as well!

Beautiful stuff! Don't you just love those kind of surprises?
Looking forward to seeing it polished.

Remember I am just a tumble-pendant guy. That may be a wrong approach with this material. May end up sacrificing part of one slab to a couple of Pendants. Then alter my tumbling routine somewhat to protect it a bit. I looked at the slab closer under with the loop and it may have some in it, but thin veins at best. Can not tell the color as it may be picking it up from the Azurite. Had a chance to buy a 3 pound tumbler at a good price, passed it up as I did not see the need. Sure wish I had bought it.

I am guessing it is from the Ray Mine. Take a pic with a flashlight on the back side, the silica will light up. Nice find.
PS.... Don't tumble it!!!!
