Nice job, Pho. It is both functional, and a very nice way to display the wood. That is a nice big piece of wood too, BTW -- good find!

That's very cool. I did the same thing with the first core bit I used. I was wondering why it wouldn't go down into the rock any further, so I pushed a little harder and, snap!
KD. My sister-in-law just gave me a brazilian agate that was cut in half and drilled to make a candle holder. I'll take some pics and post them.

Cher..the wife and I have been thinking of that but we are just not sure what to put on it. We are going to put something there...great minds think alike eh? Pho GMTA .... You betcha! I'm sure it's something he'd like to put on his desk so I'd suggest Mr. *last name goes here* since that is probably what kids will call him. It looks like it's a little wider on the back side (looking at the pic) so that's where I'd put it. I think brass would look nice on there too. Cher

I'm gonna swipe tha idea too iffen ya don't mind!! I have a couple pieces that would make great paper weight/pen-pencil holders.
