Hi all.
I live in a region with several old blast furnaces nearby, and have gotten into tumbling to see if I can polish up some of the colorful slag pieces that I find. I purchased a simple rotary tumbler a month ago.
Its been fun learning as much as I can so far. I joined here to search the boards and see any best-practices that I should follow for the polishing stage. Also I get the feeling that this slag project is just going to be my gateway into tumbling for a good while into the future.
Thank you, David

Hey David! Welcome from South Dakota! I've been hounding for a little while and just got my first couple tumblers myself. I look forward to seeing progress pics from you (hint hint).

Hey there! Good luck with your endeavor. Did you know there are dino tracks on the battlefield? They are on the top of one of the little bridges. Triassic if I remember right.

Yes, I am familiar with the tracks on the bridge at the base of Big Round Top. My brother is a geology professor - that bridge is one of the stops when he takes his students on a tour of the area rock types.
