Do you have closeups of the burro creek agate. I am thinking I might need to get some of that.

disapearing? Are you serious? My problem is totally the opposite. I'm had a real hard time getting them to shape. They were in coarse for over 2 months and they just weren't shaping.... you'd think I was tumbling rubies or diamonds. I have since put them aside for when I have nothing else to tumble. Right now I'm using the barrel for some mexican lace.
Banjo said to expect them to crumble during the first couple of weeks of coarse. I had some crumble garbage at the bottom of the barrel during the first couple of weeks, but after that, no more crumbling. Are yours still falling apart?

Yes just crumbling apart- even after 4 weeks- They are turning to sand- Out of the 15 chunks I put in only 3 were ready to move on- and only 4 or 5 others are gonna stay large enough to go the distance! Sorry but I have no closeups of the Burro creek- I had the camera set at zoom and then resized the pic to small- By the time I realized it the stuff was back in the barrel! I promise- next weekend I'll get a better pic- let me assure you that if you get some from banjo- you won't be dissapointed! It is awesome in the rough- and even after only a couple of weeks in course it is soooo incredible!

Maybe I pulled out "good" rocks out of the batch Banjo sent me (I picked and chose my favorite ones). I didn't put the entire batch he sent me into the barrel. I had them going with 2 other rocks (like you)... Guess I'll find out when it's time to do all of them... one day.

Yea I have a lot more to do Hopefully I just got some of the more crumbly stuff in there! Banjo warned me that it was a bit crumbly but it was worth it- So far the stuff that is holding up is real cool- guess I'll just wait and hope!

Ohhh...touble with the fossil agate ehhh? Well, what I have found is that the matrix of this can sometimes be 50% of the stone. The good stone has crisp edges. The matrix is dark red and porous. I have taken to tapping the dark red porous part of the rock with a hammer and knock the textured matrix off first, before I tumble it. The agate is very hard and I have had to run in about 4 weeks in 60/90. The other option I find works is just throw a bunch in the barrel and after one week of 60/90 go through it by hand and throw out the crumbly red matrix. If some pieces look like dark red tree bark, that is 'bunk' don't use it. If you would like I can send you about 10 pounds of good clean stuff for your trouble, or even substitute it for something. I'm easy. Just IM me. Here's what it SHOULD look like when you finish it... -Banjo
