WOW! The one in the middle of the upper row doesn't look like scrap at all. Beautiful shape, rich pattern, solid material.

It was a small piece and needed to pick a shape that fit and framed the pattern. Ideally, it starts with a larger slab and then finding a pattern and picking a shape. A scrap can make a nice cab but it dictates what can be done.

Oh Chuck...even your "scraps" are some of the nicest pieces around! I know you said you designed one of them, but to me, only ONE looks like it WASN'T designed!

With Paul's MHPJ, I will try to make something with any piece that shows anything. I have no training in drawing or painting. I look for an attribute in a slab I like and try to frame it. On this cab, it was the bright poppy on the bottom and the partial poppies on the edges.
