Things did not go as planned. Was unable to find anyone to do the needed work, as contractors here are still doing large scale repairs from the 7/2019 storms. I have been acquiring items for the lapidary work area in my utility room for over a year. Modifications to room and installation of all items will hopefully happen in 2021. This includes insulation, electric and heating modifications, in addition to other changes to make the room lapidary friendly. I do not want to just clear out the room and put stuff in there. Want to do it correctly. Recently saw a "childs toy storage shelf" for sale near me. Felt this would be a great addition. The bins can be placed flat or tilted. There is a heavy clear coat on the stand. It is well made and sturdy. I have additional bins to fill the gaps.

My kids had one of those sets of bins. Funny thing, now my rock area has an identical set....
I hear you 300% on doing things right! My rock shop has to wait too. Currently at odds with the husband over building a rock area in our garage. Definitely not something I woudld choose but the options are limited. He wants me to have some kind of tent setup for my equipment, in order to contain spray, and I am having none of it.
When I build a rock shop, I will just put heavy duty rubber flooring (like the kind in swimming pool locker rooms) up the walls, and call it good.

Not sure this would be helpful, but a lot of people mount their saws on a wheeled cart and push it outside for cutting. No mess in the garage.

Right this very minute I'm working on doing exactly this with my saw. I won't be able to wheel it all the way out into the driveway because our driveway is on a short steep incline. I'll push it out as far as I can and use my strong air-mover fan to keep any mist moving out of the garage. If I pass the point of no return there is going to be a 400lb, 18" saw in the middle of the street or even worse on it's side at the bottom of the driveway haha.

It was 6 degrees here yesterday, and the wind is fierce. Even out of the wind it's horrible. And the snow is coming to boot.

If you cover the walls go to a shop that sells an assortment of plastic sheets .They have plastic 4 x 8 sheets that look like cardboard that are cheap and can be cleaned easily and are solvent proof. They are very light and can be fastened to the wall easily !

I use a shower curtain to cover the tool box that my cab machine sits upon. Easily replaced when its too dirty and the wheeled tool box looks like new.

I have some tarps spread over 2x2 frame to make walls (top open) but apparently that's not enough coverage to satisfy. He thinks a full tent setup is the only option. Hmph I say.

Maybe you could shoot for something like this (The Boy In The Plastic Bubble 1976)! I don't think Travolta would necessarily come with it if you chose this route!
