Just laid out $150 on a pre-order for this new cabbing machine. They have had only two shipments of around 50 machines combined since the launch. I would love to hear from any of you that now own one of these units! The good, the bad, & the ugly...
I considered the Lortone/Kingsley North, EZ Cab and Cab King 8", but the HP CB8 looked really sweet (on their youtube video) for the price. I hate buying on faith of a salesman, but Highland Park makes some really good stuff.

Looks good. Stainless steel is a premium. You will have some folks who will praise HP in general and others who will bad mouth them. Part of that is comparing the "old" days with the "modern" ones. I'm sure you will able to do great work with the machine. Having quick access to changing wheels and a motor that is not locked into the middle of the machine are additional advantages. Enjoy.

I'll probably outfit the machine with the DP Nova wheels. From what I have read so far, they seem to be the top of the line wheels.

Jadecarver 80 and 220 grit plastic core hard wheels. Lithuania (top ebay) or johnsonbrothers soft wheels. DP is too expensive and these are excellent alternatives. Where does the polishing pad go?

Thanks for the suggestion Star. I have heard johnsonbros are pretty good. I have only recently heard about the Lithuania, but couldn't find where to get them on the net (Etsy) I try looking at ebay. As for the polishing pad, I assume it would screw on the end as it does on other machines.

I think the top hard wheels are really great, but have only bought the 6 inch. I bought an 8 inch soft from them and haven't used it. My 8 inch machine requires disassembly to mount wheels and I'm doing all my work on my 6 inch machine except for the 600 and 1200 soft johnsonbrothers which are in great shape. I have learned to do most of my work using the 6 inch 80 grit top wheel and it cuts fast. My 8 inch stardiamond machine has a more awkward position for working. top

Its freaking great, you will not be disappointed! I had bought an ezcab 1 year ago, killed its bearings in 2 weeks, replaced them with high quality ones, and still it went down hill from there with vibrations, not to mention the ezcab "stainless" is rusting already, ill stop about that machine but I could go on.... In frustration of having just wasted 1200 I was hesitant but I ordered the HP cb8 in october. I recieved my machine this month..... its night and day from my ez cab and genie i had... the cb8 is solid very solid. Extremly smooth running, the 1hp motor is a beast, it does not bog down whatsoever, the tray is nice a deep, curved wrist rest, it sits on your bench with no wood underneath to rot, enough gap to wipe underneath it if need be... but so far no need to its the first machine I dont need to dry my bench top off after cutting it stays bone dry.... the drip pan is angled to allow water to flow to the two large drains in the back. They keep water almost non existent in the tray. Clearence under wheels is great, I can just wipe up the dirt and dry it off when done cutting and my machine looks like it did when i unboxed it day one every day. Wheel spacing is fantastic, pretty sure I can fit 2 hard and 4 expanding drums on it with no problems.. or 6 drums if one wishes..... tapped for flat disk on ends... wrenchless wheel changes, the belt is completly hidden from view, bearing blocks are huge 4 bolt flanges. The drippers with adjustable valves are awesome, perfect water system.. one 1/4 line is all u need to plumb it to your main water. Very clean machine and well thought out.... the motor mounted up on top is great too. I don't see myself going to any other machine now I've been thru a loritone, a genie, cálmate, a diy 6 wheel and an ezcab.... hands down the Hp machine runs circles around them all from what I've experienced so far....

Did you recieve your machine? Interested to know if you can run the 110V 1hp motor of a standard outlet with 20A breaker?

I can easily run 2 saws with similar sized motors from a single 20A breaker, and since this is a capacitor start and run motor you will have no problem, you could most likely start 2 of them at the same time and it would not spike enough to trip the breaker.

I like the video but they did not round the left and right side they left it knife edge. On my Titan I have added plastic tubing toe round the edges then last year I added foam water line insulation over that so they are nice and cushy. I do not like the motor on top since it blocks the top where I like to store dops and preforms while working. On the titan the wheels are indeed too close together especially when roughing out by hand. I guess we all have our likes and dislikes but it looks like a good machine and I do not like the fact that the DP units are totally gone if the motor dies.

I have cut up pool noodles for padding on the older cabbers. What I really want to do is get past enough more pressing projects to get started on building my cabbing unit, it will have plenty of space between wheels. Then the genie can become a 4 wheel auxiliary machine.

We run our HP CB8 on a 15A circuit without issue. It's a great machine.
