Don't know Jimmy but if you can get it to shine it will be gorgeous with those stripes and all. Nice pics too.

Looks like sandstone, maybe quartzite. If it's sandstone, you should be able to crumble little sand particles off in your hand on the cracked rock. If it's quartzite then it will be more glassy and not crumbly. Sandstone won't take a shine, quartzite can take a great shine. Very nice rock.

looks like blue quartz? sodalite is found in Ontario, British Columbia and Maine even if most of what we see available is probably from Brazil.
whatever it is, sure is pretty stuff, can't wait to see it polished!

pictures came through this time
That rock looks very much like some of our local stuff. Only ours is a different color... some are beige, some are brown, some are light pink, and some are hot pink.
can't wait to see them polished Alice

Good compact sandstone will take a nice matte finish- As far as the nice blue stripped rock goes- Well it looks like a Quartzite- should take a nice polish!

Hmmm Is it grainy- or solid- might be blue lace agate?

Could that be a banded gneiss?

Could be- but where did the blue come from??? Not much can make blue (I think copper, and possibly aluminium) any way you look at it A way cool rock- hope it takes a shine!
