I honestly had not thought to, this is something I will have to do every time from now on. Like I said, this was my first ever attempt. Thank you for the links, will do some reading tonight.

There is a ton of information available in the RTH search bar. That being said if you are still not finding what you need then ask away! While tumbling Petoskey stones is not 100% possible doing the first couple stages in the tumbler does cut out all of the hard work of getting them smoothed out. Chuck

Petoskey's can be tough to get right...Ive done it in tumblers but lost a lot of stones to get a few perfect. Starting with stage 2'ish just to get shape and hand polishing after that seems the best way to go.
Part of the problem is the actual quality of each particular stone...some hold up well...some melt away.
its a bear of a tumble...

Chuck To try and remedy the white specks throughout, would you recommend retumbling early stages?
