I usually end up checking my current tumbles every other Sunday.
Yesterday I checked the stuff running Stage one - 70 grit Aluminum Oxide (Didn't buy it, the hubby has a huge jug for sand blasting)
When I checked it 2 weeks ago there was no appreciable slurry and no apparent material loss.
I scratched my head and said "Silly girl, you must have forgotten the grit".
Color me surprised when I opened her up yesterday and it was the same thing.
Almost no slurry, and all the edges looked sharp still.
I tend to overfill my barrels so I took out a few of the bigger ones on top in case that is the problem.
Usually I have very thick slurry and lot of rounding after 2 weeks, never mind 4 weeks.
I am working to get better hardness separation of rock types.
Not stunningly scientific, but if they are all the same crystal structure and colors, from the same load of material from Cadman, hopefully they are pretty close.
So- am I more likely suffering from overcrowding or this is hard material?
Or something else?
This is my first full batch of this kind of rocks.
