I saw one of these and it made me wonder if UV lights for florescent minerals will sanitize also. What say ye?

UVC will kill germs, UVA and UVB will not.

I'd suggest that a lamp designed for rock with a UVC bulb would also be effective on most virus and bacteria, but there is a question on how long the exposure to the light is required (one study I saw said between 15-60 minutes). It can also burn the user.

Yes you have to be very careful with those uv lights. When I got my first uv light I took it out in the field collecting...during the day. While checking rocks with it in a nearly closed backpack I dropped it and thought I broke it. Like an idiot I stuck my head in the backpack and held the light directly up to my eyes to make sure I didn’t break it. Maybe for 10 seconds or so. That night I woke up about 1 am with excruciating pain in my eyes; it felt like I had Ruffles potato chips under my eyelids. Yep sunburned my eyeballs. Boy did I feel dumb lol.
