One of my sons twisted my arm yesterday so we went hounding. The forecast said 65 but it lied. It was 35 degrees, 35 mph winds and thick, thick fog.
But it was worth it! I probably should have waited to post these until tomorrow (Fairburn Friday ), but you know me. Not enough patience. We hounded around this pond a bit and I found these. My son found a couple that he says are probably his best. I wanted to show a few closeups of the bigger one, it's super nice...
Thanks for looking!

Nice finds, do you ever see any arrowheads out there? Thanks.
I've never found any, but I know people that have. A lot of fossils in this area, too.

I played hooky several times this summer...all I got was sore legs, a sore back, and skunked! LOL That second one is really something special. Definitely a nice find! I thought I might get to play hooky Tuesday as it was supposed to be decent, but I wasn't going to brave the cold and the snow that showed up instead! You guys are brave!

LOL I check the extended forecast every day, looking for "windows" in the weather to get out. They're calling for 4-6 inches of snow this weekend. It depends on how long it sticks around, but I'm hoping I can get out sometime towards the end of next week.

Nice finds. The big one is awesome. Do you have better luck around ponds or in the open? Many years ago I found some pet wood by farm ponds in ND. The cows made rock hunting easier.

Wow! Those are something else. Living vicariously through you as I work 60ish hours a week (down from 80+). Thanks! Yeah, I work seven days a week- when I don't take a day off to hound, that is. Most times I just go after work on the weekends but I don't get off until 1. And when it gets dark at 4 it's kind of tough to find rocks!

I can't really say about the luck part. We don't find many ponds to hunt around, this one was on private land that we just recently got permission to hound on. Most of the Fairburns I've found were in rock beds. And it's funny that you said that about the cows, I'm always searching where they've been, hoping they've kicked one up for me!
