You have the right outlook! You always keep believing. You never give up and you never give in. Always remember that. There are so many good people here and there. Some of them are right in front of you, but you just can't see them right now. I understand wanting to sell some of your things to help with the costs. That is a very cool idea you came up with on ebay! I also understand you can't take these things with you once you leave this place. But please don't sell those rocks and things that give you a special feeling when you hold them in your hand. There is a reason for that. Take each stone and softly hold it in your hand. You will know which ones to keep by the feeling is gives back to you when held...try it!

I have some pieces i will never part with and in viking style i want to have them burnt with me,, LOL
but I refuse to kick off, i will beat this thing and what i am selling off to make ends is such a small part of everything i have, It will be only slightly missed.
My collection spans 23 years of this rock obsession and as of 6 years ago when i last moved weighed over 400 LBs with innumerable pieces and specimins
the leather is my small craft show business so its here anyhow. medicine bags seemed to be my best medicine
its funny actually, theres a small palm sized piece of sodalite that fits my palm soperfectly. it has gotten me thru tonsilectomy, rupture of that surgery, heart attack (minor) and break ups and so many other losses in life.
that one unassuming piece has the greatest tactile effect on me. and will be the last thing i will have in my hand. It will never leave me.

That blue-green stone is really pretty. What kind of stone is that?
Rocks really do have healing qualities in them. If you are open to alternative therapies, there is a book called
ROCK MEDICINE by Sela Randazzo
I got mine on Amazon.com, pretty good book and there is a yahoo group called rockmedicine that the author will come on and answer questions sometimes.

the blue green is a form of azurite, rather soft and very nice to cab and work with. i have not seen the quality of what i have in years. this i got from a recent buy of stuff from another old timer. only drawbacks are it is very prone to pitting and wastes away to nothing in a tumbler, even worse than say malachite .

I see you have found the rock I spoke about. Have you ever noticed how each rock has a different feeling to it? Each rock has it's own unique healing and spiritual quality about them. I'm glad you have found yours!

You Go Walrus! Rocks have a way to heal the mind and soul- I collect Herkimers and I can tell you that mining them is tough work- Tons of cuts and bruises- but they all heal 10x as fast (the rock that cuts is the rock that heals?)

i dunno about herks, but in providence when i was in college, we went to this place called diamond hill. there was a great deposit of dragon tooth quartz and some nice plates, tough dig bit very worth the bruises and bleeding i did for it. that stuff was in sand stone, so i can only imagine breaking the stuff herks are in (usually basalt?)

DOLOMITE!!!!! Some Though stuff- I brought home a chunk (20LBS) that would not crack- Took a 3 lb sledge to it- nothing- took a bullpoint chisel- still no luck- finially used a 20 lb sledge- Broke the 8 inch thick sandstone table underneath it!!!! I finally took to it with a rock chisel and the 3 Lb Crack hammer- After about 35 min of smacking the dang thing split in 2- Nothing inside it (of course) but I did whittle down the the one half and found a couple of keepers- Yes it is hard stuff!

Not sure on the peridot- This particular dolimite is incredibly tough! but it is just incredible to crack open this dull grey rock and find a cavity filled with clear perfectly terminated Quartz!
