Hello All, I have a large amount of what I believe to be Italian Marble (could be wrong) from a historic house that has been torn down. The marble was part of the fireplace and was cracked in many places. Firstly, is this material good? If so, what kind of projects could I do with it? Any ideas? All the best, Michael

Hmmm..... some of those pieces may be big and deep enough to grind out a shallow bird bath. Jugglerguy has some threads about grinding bowls.

I’m not sure if it’s thick enough, but here’s my video on making a bowl.

Awesome stuff-
I would have a hard time deciding what to do with it.
Assuming you'll get a few tumbling/cabbing ideas here, I'll propose something a bit different.
As this looks even thicker than typical countertop material, make the most of the extra thickness. Some of the bigger pieces could be made into saucers or plates. Like, where you could put your car keys at the end of the day - you get to look at your work all the time.
I wonder if you could get stone epoxy and mix in matching stone dust to glues pieces together and hide/blend seams together nicely with that stone pattern.
If these pieces were thin like tile, you could make boxes.
Love to see what you come up with.

I’d make coaster sets in various sizes. —- coffee cup size —- coffee cup plus a cookie size —- casserole, stew, bowl size
That’s what I am doing with serpentine tiles.

Thank you everyone for the ideas. I hope to get my trim saw out an get to work on this stone soon. One idea I had was business card holders. Still open to other ideas!
All the best, Michael
