This is my second attempt at wire wrapping (I learned some things the first time...). I am actually kinda pleased with this one, and might even wear it! This is NM agate (collected and tumbled polished by ME) wrapped in sterling silver wire...oh, and sitting on a piece of gypsum, which reminds me of petrified snow. ;D Susan

Wow, that's very pretty. Great job for a second attempt! I like that twisted wire, I've been thinking of ordering some of it, how was it to work with?

Cher, I'm trying all different kinds of wire - round, half round, square, twisted. (Banjo likes dead soft wire). I mostly ordered half-hard 'cuz I couldn't get the smaller gauges in dead soft locally. This particular twisted sterling wire was 20 gauge, dead soft, and therefore pretty easy to bend. I got it at Rio Grande. This wrap was a breeze, virtually no frustration. I've signed up for a wire ring making course at the University of NM, and want to get some practice in before I go - hope to start a business if I can ever get as good as Banjo. Thanks for looking - Susan

If that's a second attempt you're gonna be real good at this! As you get experience with all that different kind of wire could you possibly write about it and post it?? I have been attempting to wrap some rocks but I simply can't afford all that wire to practice with. I would love to see what wire some of you all prefer to use. Sorta like I'd like to get a report so I can buy only the most popular wire! Susan, I think your wrap is outstanding! Joe

That looks Great Sue!, you gotta get those classes now so that I can learn something from YOU. That 'no frustration' part is the best!! You'll be crankin those out in no time. Keep up the GREAT work!

That's amazing! that twisted wire looks different from a square twisted wire, almost like two tiny round wires twisted together... You seem to have a natural talent for this!
PS on the gypsum, did you know that you can "grow" that stuff at home?

Joe, I haven't had enough experience yet but I can tell you that I DON'T LIKE dead soft 20 gauge sterling square wire. Can't keep the tool marks off it. In the future, I probably won't use anything bigger than 21 gauge for wrapping and I'm gonna look for the smaller gauge wire. I also like the half-hard wire as it has a bit more body, but it's pretty unforgiving. S

Your a natural girlfriend! If you can turn out something as beautiful as this on your 2nd try, no telling what you will be capable of doing after your class. Then you can teach us! It's also great that you live near a university that offers courses like that. Humm...now you have me thinking as I live near one and have all the free time now...better check out their website. What a great idea!!!
