I was wondering if anyone knew what was going on with Lapidary Journal? I can't find any way to subscribe to it. Is it no longer in distribution??
I'm also soliciting suggestions on any other lapidary books or magazines I can recommend to my local rock hounds (non internet users) because of all the Covid outbreaks we're having. Yuck.

404 on Lapidary journal. Every other site I tried says it's no longer availble/sold out. Frustrating. However, I'm already Canadian subscribed to Rock & Gem; get it locally

I was able to reach all the links for the magazines at interweave and I very recently purchased a bunch of back issues.

Try going to interweave.com and then click the shop link and then the jewelry link. Hopefully it will work for you that way.
I just got my newest issue a week or so ago.
Good luck!

Strange. Tried again this morning and the same link worked. Who knows. At any rate updated myself to a digital subscription, and loaded up on some back issues (Thanks for the heads up rockjunquie!!). Going to need something to do with the -30 and 18" of snow coming.

If you're looking for a general guide to gem cutting it's hard to beat "Gem Cutting" by the late John Sinkankas. It's an old book but it's available from Amazon, both used and in a new edition. It's slightly dated but the general principles he writes about are fundamental and unchanging. There are plenty of good books concerning new lapidary techniques but I don't have anything specific in mind. Others can probably suggest some.
For general information about gems I recommend "Gemstones of the World" by Schumann.

Pat, go to the main forum page, then click on the topic you wish to post in. In this case, I chose RTH Community Discussions.
