I received these from woodman Finally got around to photographing them. Was a little in awe at how beautiful they are. He had mentioned that he was cutting some vintage MM. I had to Photoshop some of the photos to show what they will look like when polished. My plans are to make some cabs. Tumble the trim scraps. Save the thicker piece for when I can do the children's classes again. I just wish my tile saw, trim saw, cabbing machine, flat lap and Lot O were in utility room right now. And that I had been able to get all the work done on utility room for my lapidary workshop. This photo was not enhanced.

The depth of colors as well as the moss in those pieces are both stunning!

I had to post them, as they are amazing. Will not attack any with the dremel. Just wait until I can properly work with them.

Those are some beautiful slabs! I hadn't heard of this agate before. It's so colorful and mossy. Does most of the material usually look like this? I adore colorful plumes and moss.

From what I hear, it is hard to find any in the wild these days. I got all of what I have from an estate sale and I think it was dug in the 60's or 70" Ithink the red looks better mayself

Are collection permits possible in areas where this is found?

THESE ARE THE TWO SPHERES I HAD MADE! SORRY ABOUT THEM BEING SIDEWAYS. Can a sphere be "sideways"? (Kidding - I know you were referring to the pic!) Those spheres are stunning! I love the "depth" that's so evident in these spheres. Fascinating.

The collection area is in a National Forest, but no permits are required for collection. this is link to national forest where Maury Mountain moss is. or rather a link to where one can purchase a map of Rockhounding sites in that National Forest www.avenzamaps.com/maps/479079/central-oregon-rockhounding-map

Different than some of the pet wood and obsidian sites, then.

Interesting. Different than some of the pet wood and obsidian sites, then. this is a link to BLM Lands but the same rules pretty pertain to all public land, but always check your local national forest or BLM office. www.blm.gov/basic/rockhounding

Thanks for the info. I guess I was confused/misled. I always thought permission was needed for BLM land
