Alice sent me a box stocked full with wonderful stuff! Ocean Jasper, some of Banjo's fossil agate, some ocean wave agate as well as some local rock and a bag of "white powder" - borax. ;D Did you keep any for yourself Alice! There must be at least 2 pounds in there, maybe more. Not sure what you still have left but what you sent me is amazing! and some are shaped for wrapping or pendants! I love your son's handprints on the package - it's just too sweet!. Hubby said "you got a package with kids hand prints on it" I thought it must be from you! Here is a pic of a wonderfully particular piece of ocean jasper - it's amazing how the little circles radiate around (anyone know how these are formed?) Here is another side of it I'm waiting to go to the lapsmith club to cab a few of them, I'm just staring at them, can't quite make myself, fill a barrel just yet Thanks so much Alice!!! You have no idea how much this means to me! Let me know if you need anything

Wow, that was fast... didn't I just send it yesterday? Was my pleasure to send you some Tweetie. LOL, yes of course I saved myself some. I've got about 3+ barrels worth just sitting in a box right now, waiting to be placed in a free barrel. My son was mighty proud to take part in wrapping your package. He was showing everyone we came across at the post office. INSISTING everyone look at his hand prints, and the huge smile on his face. Try to break that piece in the picture by hand. I was "fondling" the ocean jasper today and found that the crystal like ones, like in the picture, are quite brittle (just some of them), so I'm guessing they won't tumble, or slab, or cab very well, but I could be wrong. I'm not 100% sure, But I believe Ocean Jasper is a form of fossilized coral. OH, and answering your question again... that cave like hole filled with white crystals in the picture? THAT would be a vug. Alice

Very pretty blue flower pattern with druzzy! I've seen some really pretty ocean jasper cabs with the druzy left in on ebay. People seem to like that sparkle and are buying them up! Be careful with that ocean jasper, as soon you will be hooked and addicted with it and wanting, more, more and more as there are all sorts of colors and patterns!

Nice OJ there tweet (too kind of you Alice) There are a lot of theories on OJ formation- Fossilized Coral reef replace with agate is the most popular- also and Agatized Rhyolite Flow is another- Ocena Jasper is really an Agate but because of the Orbicular Nature of the rock it was nicknamed Ocean Jasper- the name stuck- anyway you look at it there iis some wonderful rock- I have cabbed some of the drusy stuff- It actually cut better than one would think! I slice it ACROSS the orbs and leave the druzy outer edges- Then just grind and polish the Flats- Have fun with it!
