Hello RTH! My wife and I recently discovered the wonderful world of rockhounding during a vacation to Utah where we found ourselves staying right outside Mt. Carmel and decided to take an impromptu trip to search for septarian nodules. After a successful hunt we were hooked! We altered our trip plans to include a stop at 'Agate Hill' outside Bryce Canyon and even made time to go back out searching for septarians on a second day. Now we're back home and trying to learn all we can about neat rocks and where/how to find them. I stumbled upon this forum and figured it'd be a great place to learn some things. Looking forward to sharing our finds with you! Here's my favorite find from our first hunt:

Town of my birth - though moved to places with better rocks more than 6 decades ago, still have some relatives there. Welcome.

Welcome from the Desert Southwest! That is a great specimen that you found. I used to regularly go in to that area of Utah, but it was before my rock hobby. I guess I need to head back some time!
Thanks for sharing the great pic!
