I'm curious to see what everyone is working with; tools, layout, overall space. Give me some inspiration that only rock hounds can, and show off a little bit

I wish I had a dedicated workspace. I'm currently setting up a temporary table in the backyard when I work, and then taking it down.
With CA weather, that works better here than it would in many other places, so it's just a bit of a pain, but winter work is not out of the question.
Nice idea for a thread

Will there be a prize for the messiest? If there was, I'd have to store it outside This thread was inspired by a conversation I had with a guy from work. We got talking about weekend plans and I said I need to get the shop cleaned up to put in the new saw (anyone have any tips for cleaning out old oil sludge?) and what a beast it will be with all the rocks I have spread around. He told me I should just "dump all the rocks in a bucket, they'll be fine." Hmph.

I believe Tommy and I moved and moved our shops about the same time. Mine has already grown to a state of chaos in that 18 month time. But the idea is to learn something and have fun without hurting anyone else. If I may borrow an old line; If someone tells you that you have too many rocks, don't talk to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Peruano - Can I come work in your shop? I'd love something that easy to get around in.

Drummond Island Rocks Nobody's shop should be that clean. Not a speck of rock dust to be found. I'd be embarrassed to show our saw shop and studio.

I think when it is clean down there I enjoy being down there more. If I leave it a mess I dread going back down next time. OCD and a lapidary shop is not the easiest combination. Chuck

Mel - what a great idea for a thread! Drummond Island Rocks - that might be the most envious setup on the planet! Kudos to you! (The bowling lane impedes the oche though! ) Here's my "workspace"! LOL Two tumblers, a tile saw, and a dremel. Everybody's gotta start somewhere.

In Texas we'd replace that bowling alley with a Shooting Range!!!

In Texas we'd replace that bowling alley with a Shooting Range!!! At my house we'd replace that alley with more rocks I once saw a table made of wood from old lanes. Absolutely gorgeous.
