I bought this 1 1/4 pound piece of Morrisonite on ebay. I am slab saw challenged to I faced the piece the narrow way so it wouldn't slip in the vise. I glued it to a board and will hopefully slab it next weekend. My saw is driving me crazy so I'll call Covington tomorrow for assistance. I liked what I saw from the unfaced picture and the pattern goes all the way through. As long as a slab is big enough to design cabs from, I don't need to cut the largest slabs.

I forgot to bid on this when it was first on auction. I was hoping to find something to combine shipping. It was relisted for $10 less and there was one other bid. The seller had a 6 piece lot of smaller Morrisonite. I glued up 3 pieces and took the trim saw to 3 pieces; the largest one that didn't look promising and two that were too small for the slab saw. I got one preform that has potential and I'll grind down the other side to see what is there. I cut the other side of the bottom left to make a 'slab' and see if the other side was better. I have a fairly even 3/8 inch slab to work with and should be able to make a cab from it. I hate using the trim saw to slab hard material but the blade I used was almost done.

I cut the big piece. I don't like my saw. Not one properly cut slab. These are a little thick. About the only thing that worked right was the blade didn't jam. One piece on the board that will take a week to soak off.

I cut the smaller pieces with the slab saw. I have another single cab slabette like the one on the left that will take at least a week to soak off. The small rough was disappointing. With the facing there isn't much left. The only other preform is the circled one in the first picture. The one photographed wet fractured twice when grinding. Best case is 4 cabs from the small rough.

Sorry it didn’t work out better. Hopefully, the cabs you do get hold up.
