Just finished polishing up some Rosetta Lace which I got from greenslapidary.com/Here's what it looks like in the rough. This is what it looks like polishedThe rough piece next to the quarter was the average size for most of the rocks. The shine... sorry not the best picture My Favorites If you ever get your hands on Rosetta Lace tumbling rough, be sure order a 5 pound minimum, and DO NOT tumble them with other Agates. I threw these in with other agates (Mexican lace and Fossil agate), and a lot of the Rosetta got eaten away into nothing after just 1 week of coarse. They are SOFT, and from my experience, only require 1 - 2 weeks of coarse. Anything more, you'll find yourself with very small rocks, like mine. But they sure do polish up very nice in the end (only needs 3 days of polish after 1000 AO) Here's a few odds'n'ends that went along for the ride Thanks for looking Alice

what a nice batch, Alice, thanks for the tip about the MOH. i've came close to ordering Rosetta a few times. love the way the "hitch hikers" came out too, some lovely little pieces there. it's always so nice to see before and after photos, i seldom remember to take before shots.
what type of polsih did you use after the 1000 AO?
give yourself a big pat on the back, splendid stones!

Thanks KD I'd order more if I could and try again, knowing what I know now. But the place that I got them from no longer carries Rosetta Do you know of another place where I could order some tumbling rough? I used Titanium Dioxide for Polish. Alice

They came out just beautiful! I tried to order the same from them and they told me they were all out and didn't know if they were going to get anymore. If you find a place that sells it please let me know as I would love to order some also.

Thanks Debs
I'm kicking myself for not ordering more then 2 pounds. If I had only known they were running out.
I think Kingsley sells large chunks of Rosetta for slabbing Debs. But I refuse to buy from them. But nothing is stopping you from buying.

Thanks Tweetie That "water drop" is a piece of beach glass I found while on vacation to the maritimes about 10 years ago. It turned out a lot better then what I had expected. When I found it, it was all frosty. Now after going through all the grit satges and then polish, it's as clear as glass.

just noticed this in one of the "hitch hickers". I have no idea what kind of rock it is though. There's a man in the circle

Very nice Alice, that stuff is really pretty. Your hitchhikers look darn nice too, specially the blue-green ones. Too bad you didn't know about the mohs before you lost so much but they sure are nice.

That's not just a circle--it's an eye. The man is reflected in the alien's eye!. Get out of the house! Alice, those are some beautiful stones, all around. Love the rosetta and am taken with the fiery orange quartz (assuming that is what it is) among the hitchhikers. Your work speaks volumes about the titanium dioxide, too.

Kim, I remember you posted up some pictures of rosetta slabs just as I was throwing the rough in the barrel. You're not finished with them yet? I threw these in the barrel MONTHS ago, and didn't go into polish until now because there just wasn't enough rock to put in a barrel. So I waited till my Tiger eye was ready for polish (Which I'll have to redo, because they got banged up by my son, and all the polish got into the fractures )

Thanks Cher. I have no idea what those blue-green ones are. I have no idea what any of the odds'n'ends are, except for the piece of beach glass that Tweetie calls a "water drop". I got them from a "Slab scrap" mix I won on Ebay.
They are TINY pieces, and not worth doing anything to them, other then look at them. The beach glass is about the size of the rosetta to the right of the quarter.

LOL @ Textiger I have no idea what it is, so we'll just have to give it the name you just gave it "fiery orange quartz"

LOL
Yes, it's very much like crazy lace... with the main colors being red & White, and sometimes a bit of orange... no other colors that you might find in Crazy lace, and MUCH softer.
Want a quick batch? Rosetta's the way to go!
