Very nice, miket ! That stone is epic. I like it. Could you take a picture of the back?
I've been looking at it and I can't see a reason that the wire isn't laying flatter against the stone.
Thanks, Robin! It really is, probably one of my favorites that I've worked- top 10 anyway! I'll get a pic of the back here in a bit...

That wrap looks great. Perhaps you could use a bezel pusher or something similar to push the wires closer to the cab. It could be that there will be a gap and you just have to live with it. Sometimes the wires just don't want to sit as close to the cab as we'd like. I don't use half-hard wire since it is harder to work for me because of my arthritis. If the problem is with the wire I would think it would be more about the gauge than the hardness. Thicker wire would make the frame wires look like they are farther from the side of the cab. Just my 2cents Thank you, Diane! I pushed the sides a bit against the corner of a desk, it didn't want to budge. I kind of like the half-hard a little better compared to the dead soft. A bit harder to work with but it seems to stay put more when I'm pushing and pulling on other parts of the wrap!

Here's the back, hummingbirdstones ...the pattern goes all of the way through. Truly a great specimen.

Really nice job on the back of that pendant, miket!
Here's what I think your culprits are that are causing the side wires not to be flush with your stone:
See those ends from the 1/2 round? If you make sure that those ends are right next to the last binding wire and you give them a gentle smoosh with your pliers, it will lock your binding wires down and hopefully prevent the gaps you're seeing in this one.
It's a great wrap anyway, but that should help with the problem.

Thanks again! And thanks for the tip, that might just be it. A gentle smoosh.

Are you sticking with it or taking it apart or trying to squoosh it while it's together?
Your back looks nice and neat, BTW.

You're welcome. Perhaps that wire just wanted to be away from the rock to be more artsy.

I'm leaving it for now...maybe a little squoosh... And thank you!

I'm leaving it for now...maybe a little squoosh... And thank you! Mike, I would just leave this one alone. The wrap is awesome even with the slight gaps. Use the smoosh on your next wrap and see if it helps you out. You should be smooshing the binding wires gently after you have them all placed and are going to bind the top of the piece. Leave them until then, because if you need to adjust them it's easier. After smooshing, it locks them down so they don't move and it's a lot harder to adjust.

Looking at the back pic some more, it looks like you could get a thin bladed knife in there and wedge that binding wire flat. Not that you have to or should. I don't think it looks bad, honestly.

I might. Not sure what happened, I usually get those smooshed. Seriously might need to look into get one of those magnifying lights to work under. I can't remember what they're called- apparently loss of eyesight and memory go hand in hand at 53!

I've used Optivisors for years. I always wear them when I'm working on a piece or cutting a stone. Can't see sh*t if I don't.

Very nice! I think I like the bail better than any other part of this particular wrap. The wrap goes very nicely with the stone!

My wraps are super simple compared to yours, but I appreciate the compliment! You are just being kind. I can't even use 1/2 round wire without botching it and getting it all turned upside down. Hehe. Plus, every time I have to remind myself that you are using a Dremel tool to do your cabbing. I can't even imagine what kinds of patience, hand skill, and time it must involve. Your stuff is more like hand made art, I think. But I appreciate the kind words none the less. I look forward to your next piece!
