Its been a few since I've done any wrapping, here's my latest attempt. I had a hard time getting this wrap tight on the sides and my "style" hasn't changed any.
And thanks for looking.
Edit- I did order half-hard wire for the wraps this time instead of dead soft. A little bit harder to work with, but I think I like it.

One of your best, Mike — cab and wrap. I like how your wrapping ended with a swirl that draws attention back to the cab's pattern.

That cab is from a piece of wood that Tommy sent me for one of the cabbing contests and I really like it! I'm not 100% satisfied with the wrap though- the cab is secure but the spaces on the side from the wire not being tight against it bug me every time I look at it.

Looks great Mike! I always loved that particular preform and hoped I would eventually get to see it as a pendant - so thanks for that

I missed that gap. A consequence of half-hard wire?

Killer! I'm so glad you got some half round. Once you get used to it, you'll see what a difference it makes. What size did you get?

I missed that gap. A consequence of half-hard wire? Maybe. Or a consequence of my inexperience!

Also, any tips on getting the wraps a little tighter next time would be appreciated!

22 is a little small, but it should work fine. I generally use 20 or 21 on 20 gauge wires.
As for the gaps... there are many ways to get them and I can't guess as to what your issue was- if any. Sometimes you just have to expect some gap. Sometimes, it's the thickness of your half round, but yours isn't too thick. I think it's just more of- practice makes perfect.

Overall I like the way it turned out, but as you've seen I like to be my own worst critic sometimes.

Very nice, miket ! That stone is epic. I like it. Could you take a picture of the back?
I've been looking at it and I can't see a reason that the wire isn't laying flatter against the stone.

That wrap looks great. Perhaps you could use a bezel pusher or something similar to push the wires closer to the cab. It could be that there will be a gap and you just have to live with it. Sometimes the wires just don't want to sit as close to the cab as we'd like. I don't use half-hard wire since it is harder to work for me because of my arthritis. If the problem is with the wire I would think it would be more about the gauge than the hardness. Thicker wire would make the frame wires look like they are farther from the side of the cab. Just my 2cents

Mike, as others have stated, both the cab and the wrap look great! Yes, I did see the gap, but I thought it was an "artistic" touch you felt was necessary to fully allow the stone to "breathe" within it's new confines!
