Hello new friends,

I don't have a cab question per se, but I hope that you can help me find someone to help me with some projects.

I am looking for someone to cut some 12mm x 10mm triplet base and top cap pieces for me.
(I work in silver and gold, and hope to take some lapidary classes soon, but haven't gotten there yet.) Something like 5 pairs of these base+top cap sets. The base material - probably basanite and the top cap- optical quartz.

I realize everyone is probably booked up, and busy with the winter season, but if this sounds like something you are interested in, please do get in touch.

If you are not interested, but know someone might be interested, please let me know. I'm having a heck of a time finding someone with the time and interest to do a little project like this. Throw me all the links and all the contacts who might be interested.

The triplet making tutorial on this forum from 2009 illustrates perfectly what I am after- I just need the base bit and the top cap bit for my projects.

I have seen the precut caps before, think I have some in a box somewhere. I got them for some backed ammolite on basanite pieces I also have packed up somewhere.
The problem is trying to line up and assemble everything without using lapidary equipment to clean up the edges. With the ammolite I planned on starting with the basanite oversize.
I will look for the link to the caps, I think it was an opal seller.

It's a cool project, just finding the materials is proving difficult so I'm hoping someone who already has the material is interested in creating matched base and caps!

mineralmagpie, You're looking for ovals, right? I have optical quartz (not glass) caps in that size in 2 versions, high and low dome. The high domes magnify the underlying material a bit. The high domes are about 5 mm. deep and the low 3 mm.

How many pieces are you looking for total? If I understand correctly you need 5 cap/basanite combos. I''m in the midst of an interstate move and don't know if I'll have time to cut the basanites for you. I was just headed out to cut my last cab before packing my equipment when I saw your post. I agree with Rockoonz that you'll need the basanites a bit oversize for final trimming once the triplets are epoxied. Message me to work out details if you're interested.
