My 2 day cooking marathon started early this morning. I have a BIG family get together on Christmas Eve (pot luck and snacks) and then another family day on Christmas. I'm making my macaroni salad (huge batch), green bean casserole (of course), deviled eggs, ham, chex mix and whatever else. I don't bake. My granddaughter is making cookies and my SIL is making her famous pumpkin bread. Yummy.
So, what are y'all making?

Going to my Dad's for Christmas dinner. We had discussed having tamales (we've done that in the past), but Dad is getting his request - standing rib roast. I'd rather have tamales, lol.
One year, DH and I had Christmas dinner at Jack in the Box! Ah, the simple things in life.

Our local Chinese take out is really good.
Standing rib roast sounds really good.

That WhatABurger sounds good to me. Might not be the same as the WhatABurger chain we have here locally, but we have some great burgers. Daughter and granddaughter want me to fix some shrimp and grits for Christmas day so looks like I'll be rolling my sleeves up.

I always cook a Prime Rib on Christmas. Plus some cheesy potatoes, deviled eggs, canned green beans from the garden, homemade rolls with black raspberry jelly. And dessert. Lots of dessert. Chocolate chip pecan pie, blueberry pie, probably a cherry cake... Almost as good as Thanksgiving. Almost.

Just talked to my sister. She is making pancit and lumpia. She does it every bit as good as any Filipino. It'll be fun to see what everyone brings.

Just me and Vince this year. Tomorrow night we're having shrimp and potatoes au gratin and Xmas day we're having ham, sweet potatoes and corn casserole.
Last weekend I made snickerdoodles, Italian anise cookies and Kahlua fudge. That's dessert. Not straining ourselves this year in any way.

Standing rib roast sounds really good. I love me some egg foo yung, too! Wish there was a Chinese take-out joint here that had Chinese food that actually tasted like good Chinese. No such luck.
I did make it myself once and it turned out way better than I thought it would. Maybe it's time to make another batch.

We're having my wife's adult kids over for dinner and presents tonight. Then out to my in-laws farm on Christmas Eve and then again Christmas day...and then again New Years Day.
Tonight's Menu: White Chili, Cornbread Muffins, Shrimp & Cocktail Sauce, Spinach Artichoke Dip, Cream Puffs and Chocolate Cream Pie for desert.
X-Mas Eve Menu: Oyster Stew, Quiche and tons of finger foods...stuffed mushrooms, jalapeno poppers, etc.
X-mas Day: "Traditional" Thanksgiving turkey meal as the family didn't gather as a whole on Thanksgiving...
New Years Day Menu: Prime Rib, Asparagus, Cheesy Hashbrowns with Bacon, and lots of other good stuff...

My wife's doing her "traditional" New England Clam Chowder for Christmas Eve. I'm making dill bread to accompany it and we'll have fresh baked apple pie. We're having a quiet event with her niece, nephew and their triplet daughters.
We'll have a big family dinner at their house on Christmas and our host always serves fine prime rib with multiple trimmings. Lots of wine will be consumed at both events (but not by me - I've had to forgo wine for health reasons, darnit!.
For New Year's I'm planning to treat my seafood-loving wife with King Crab legs I bought from Wild Alaska. Haven't figured out the rest of the menu yet but it will be fairly simple.

I'm fixing ham, potatoes dauphinois, curried cauliflower, homemade rolls, cherry coke salad, and cake with eggnog frosting.
We've invited four orphans over...orphans being elderly single folks with no family in the area.

Either hand pies or cabbage rolls. TBD.
Tamales , to me are heaven, but my wife is allergic to corn.

Already had Christmas with my daughter. I brought a pecan pie and cheesecake. Today, I plan on broiled Alaskan trout that a co-worker caught. Baked potato with fixins. Steamed asparagus that I grew. Dessert will be a piece of the pecan pie. Will be having Christmas with my 4-legged family members, which I am fine with. They will receive some special food treats.
