Occasionally, I stumble across really unusual stones. Some of them I find when I'm rockhounding and many of them I find in rock shops miscellaneous bins. The miscellaneous bins are usually stone that's been bought as part of consignments. There's a huge assortment of things in them. I even found a Sheeps Bridge agate one day. Very nice purple When I first started tumbling I bought a bag of agates that contained a pretty purple rock. I was new and didn't know any better and broke it with a hammer to make it small enough to Tumble. I found out later it was a nearly perfect specimen of parcelas agate I'd like to avoid making a mistake like that again lol. I thought I'd post some pictures here of material I've found and let you guys yell at me if it's something rare that I should keep intact or use for slabs. A green jasper of some kind A purple red and orange agate. It appears to have filaments or string like inclusions in it. A beautiful purple red and green plume agate. It looks a little bit like West Texas material but I'm not sure. Wonderstone of some kind? The texture is rough like wonderstone. A red and grayish white spotted Jasper of some kind. A red, yellow and white jasp-agate Some sort of lace agate. Mexican lace or Laguna lace? It has beautiful patterns on it that don't show up in the picture. A piece of agate I got back in the early 80s. No idea on this one except that I love the material. It's hard like a normal agate.

No help on the IDs, but I bet those are going to be stunners once (if) tumbled!

#3 looks like Coprolite or possibly Mozarkite #4 I think your guess is right #6 possibly clay canyon Jasper #7 possibly indio moss #8 Vaquilla Agate #9 mex lace based on what I see the distinctive part that defines laguna lace is wider banding

Thanks rmf! manofglass also said that the green rock may be Jade and not Jasper. I've never seen rough jade in person so it didn't even occur to me.

I think the very last one might be a moss agate? I've seen some great samples of similar looking stuff from Indonesia (and if you don't know the origin, it could be possible). I agree with rmf about the other IDs.

Thanks Mel. I start looking at Indonesian moss agates. Many of the things I find in the big Misc skids at my local shop are from all over the planet. I love the blue Blackskin agates I found in them. They look so neat.
