I have some Yooperlite questions.
A local offered over 100 lbs. for sale. Everything ranging from 25 cent size pieces to 6 lb rocks.
His per pound price seems high to me at $50.00. This would be for a random combo of sizes. He will show photos of exact pieces under UV light and without.
Is willing to sell individual pieces or groups of pieces customers want.
I have yet to see any photos of the rocks in natural light. Only UV light.
Am considering purchasing about 6 smaller pieces to experiment with. The demand for lapidary supplies/rocks is minimal where I live.
I just watched Rob’s recent video on polishing Petoskey Stone with rotary and vibe. Corn cob is utilized in vibe.
The same technique should work with Yooperlite.
Would appreciate any advice from those here.
Thank you.

That is way out of line with how common they are, if not graded down to the absolute best patterns. They are around that price on e-Bay for the best patterns. They are asy to work and take a good polish, not as soft as a Petoskey, maybe a 5-5.5 Mohs. Happy Holidays

I thought the price was excessive. Then saw some postings from someone else local who apparently purchased some. Rather crudely polished pieces. They did somewhat crude wire wraps and are selling them as pendants/earrings for $25.00. Are getting some interest.
Am still on the fence. Waiting on a price for 6 pieces.

Let me know if it doesn't work out, I have some that you can play with to help you decide. Although, I just realized how much they were getting for them...lol.

The guy who has the rights to the name sells them for about 50 lb.
There are others found that call them other things that also sell them around that price range.
I have several that were gifted to me and they make very good specimens but I wouldn't pay that much for them
Personally I wouldn't do anything to them. Better left as is

I made a few pendants out of some of our Yoops , easy to work and polish up nice . If you get the right color combination , they don't look half bad . Helps to like granite and have a chin mounted uv light though .
