I say two and a half because the green one will go on a dop for turning it into more of a cushion shape. It's 10x10 mm.
Yes, the multi-color one really IS that bright.

Nice, nice nice! Is that ribbon fire in the last two photos, or just what the camera was able to capture?

You got it - it is ribbons from some angles and rolling broad flash from others.
That bar was paper thin, and the stone is only 1.5 to 2.0 mm thick. It was yet another "practice" stone to see what might be salvaged out of it.

Heck of a nice "salvage" Vince! That square one looked like a Chiclet to me at first! Those colors are off the charts!

That little triangular one is amazing! Love the pattern. That long rectangular one is interesting. It almost looks like an opal in an opal with the black section like like.

These are pretty. I like the one on the right, in the first picture.
Opal is my favorite stone. I am sure of it really. Only I have not made my way North in to Nevada to dig up any of it myself. Quite a mystery really.
I think that when I should find some precious pieces that will need to come here and consult the experts on how to proceed. In my mind it is a lot like Fire Agate. Cut or grind it wrong and you lose the character of the whole piece.

Yeah, Bill, I think I replied to your comment on cutting opal in the other thread about taking days to cut a stone.
Grind a little too much and it can go wrong very quickly, so "grind a little - look a lot".
