This is one of the rocks I picked up in bancroft last weekend. It polishes really nice and has a hardness of at least 7. Any ideas what kind of rock it would be? With a pen for size reference

I don't know what they are but I bet they would sure make some beautiful cabs! Lots of different color. Trish

I got all kinds of stuff - a lot unidentifiable but others like sodalite, rose quartz, apache tears, florite some banded agate and a piece of magnitite. Found the magnite in a pile by an abandoned mine.
Only had two days there but there are all kinds of collecting sites withina 15 mile radius. Got a book that lists a lot of them.
I plan on going back there sometime in the future.
As for the box - is that going to fly in Canada with our postage rates so high? I'm in if it is feasible.

With a hardness of 7, I'm thinking a jasper of some sort. It has that "picture" quality that a lot of jaspers have. And you just go and pick it up. Dang (pushing the green eyed monster away).
