When I bought my slab saw from Covington they recommended buying oil at the same time to save on shipping. I was buying a lot of water based coolant from Johnsonbrothers and shipping (UPS) was expensive. My last order was from rockpeddler and was the Diamond Pacific concentrate. It was less expensive, required a lower concentration and shipping cost was more reasonable (not UPS).

Our club always got their mineral oil from feed stores — it’s a horse laxative.

Thanks for the info - it's interesting that Chewy is distributing the Ultracruz product now. I have been ordering from the source with great results and wonderful customer service but being able to buy the same great product from two sources is never a bad thing. www.chewy.com/ultracruz-mineral-oil-light-livestock/dp/237769Edited to add: just for the record in case it is not obvious - SC Health is the manufacturer of Ultracruz product and it looks like for now we will continue to be able to purchase it direct from the mnfr.

Good info here. I wasn't sure where to buy mineral oil in Canada. I got a slightly used 10" trim saw and think they filled it with olive oil, which I will have to drain and replace with the right stuff. I will check with the feed store.

I am exploring Aspen Pet Mineral Oil advertised at $14.99 from Tractor Supply. You pick up at store and they promise to ship it to that store within 2 days. I realize you are talking cheaper but not much and I have a TS nearby. As we have noted previously, mineral oils for laxatives vary in viscosity but not significantly enough to affect my use in my saws. Walmart human laxative mineral oil tends to be a bit heavier than the horse laxative I've purchased from feed stores and Tractor Supply. The result is that heavier oils tend to keep rock dust suspended rather than precipitating them out. The result is rock pudding rather than rock putty. I actually like pudding because it involves less scraping and more emphasis on just pushing it toward the saw drain and into the filter bag.
