Thought I'd share some of my latest efforts in front of the wheels. First up are a couple small cabs from local pet wood. next two are from a box I got from roy. crazy lace and not sure on the other. These two are by way of Gary opalpyrexia. Tiger Eye and unknown. didnt get the finish I'd hoped for with tiger eye but has a lot of flash so am ok w it. this reminds me of a bouquet of roses. Any idea on ID? The rest of these are cold mountain thunderegg. this one is result of attempting an inside swoop per @hookedonrocks awesome tutorial. Pretty pleased with how it turned out. definitely better and easier than previous attempts I did before the tutorial. These next two came from an egg that was much much softer material overall than most other eggs. the white areas undercuts and doesnt polish up but doesnt hurt the overall appearance imo. I see a wintery nature scene in this one. This one reminds me of Jurassic Park- Some brecciated pieces- And last two- pit popped up on the one but left it since was deep enough that I would lose pattern on stone if ground it out. oh, I forgot one. this last one is Pietersite. There are only a few small areas of chatoyancy but still really happy with how it turned out. Thanks for looking and for any help with IDs !

Lots of eye candy. I thought the first one was a mooka. NICE wood! Some top material you've been working. Love the t eggs and the swoops. Can't say what the rose one is, but it's my fav- so much depth.

Can't say what the rose one is, but it's my fav- so much depth. Thank you for the kind words! that wood has a deeper pink/purple color than any other wood I've collected thus far. unfortunately not a big piece and will only get one more cab from it, if I'm lucky. I get lots of reds and yellows but none with that particular color scheme. I really like the rose one as well. it looks better in Person too. Hopefully opalpyrexia can help with ID.

Your cabs are a joy to see — wonderful! Your rose bouquet cab is "East Java Agate" according to the eBay seller who sold me the rough. That seller has a current listing that looks similar — same color but with denser plumes: east java plume agate rough pieces 3 lbs

Beautiful batch of cabs!
I have a few favorites including the Pietersite and the rose one, but my most favorite is the wintery nature scene.

Some amazing cabs in there! Nice job on the swoop!
I'm a big fan of the Cold Mountain. I picked up about 10 pounds. Boy is that stuff hit or miss with getting decent cab material out of it...but when you can get a good piece out of it, it's really stunning.
That being said...that Pietersite is completely off the charts! That one to me is the most stunning cabs I've seen in awhile! Great job!

Great job! thanks man! yeah the cold mountain certainly can be hit or miss. my last order of 15 lbs resulted in less workable material than first order of 10lbs. seems many of the smaller ones contain mostly clearish agate and little rhyolite. I spoke with guy at jhkalmore.com and said he would be happy to pick out larger eggs for my next purchase so hopefully next order will have more workable material.

I was up late last night and decided to place an order. I knew I wanted some Flower of Peach Lace Agate again, and I kept putting the Cold Mountain in and out of my cart while trying to decide. I finally took it out since I didn't think the "yield" was all that good. If I would've waited until today to order, I would have seen your post and maybe given them a call too. LOL Well, there's always next time. Thanks for letting me know this.

I know what you mean about not great yield. tho not uncommon with t eggs. and you can't be certain what's inside either but I had much better luck with bigger eggs. should be getting more in next week or two so will see if minimizing the smalls helps minimize the waste
