The last couple of batches have had an uneven polish , the edges will be really shiny but the other areas are dull. Anyone know what is causing this ? It won’t let me upload photos via my phone

I’m using a rotary tumbler with MJR or Thumlers grit

Most of the time that is caused by not enough ceramics in the later stages or not enough variety in the sizes of stones in the barrel. The edges contact other rocks at a much higher rate then larger flat areas. More smalls equals more contact.

I was going to say the same as Chuck and here are my additional thoughts. Did you have a number of flat rocks? Too many large flat rocks can be difficult to rub, especially in a thick slurry. They sometimes even stick to the flat top or bottom of the barrel. Last thought - is it possible you stopped the polish too soon? Maybe they just wanted more time.
