Time to re-stock Etsy after the holidays. All four from one slab. Some better then others but all seemed worthy of wrapping. Closeup of the best one (IMO) Thanks for looking Chuck

All four are beautiful! The simplicity of the groove wrap really lets the material speak for itself. And it is screaming for attention.

They are really pretty! Almost look like fossils actually. But I don't know enough to say.
I think that the spiral at the top is a good match for the round nature of the little fossil looking guys! I think that if I use square wire this week then I will try the spiral on one of mine too.

Well I priced the 3rd one the highest so I'll have to wait and see how that pans out. Chuck

Those look good, Chuck. I just slabbed some of that a couple weeks ago, but my material looks pretty crumbly.

Those look good, Chuck. I just slabbed some of that a couple weeks ago, but my material looks pretty crumbly. Don't feel bad. I would say 75% of the turritella that I have slabbed myself from purchased rough has been the browner crumbly stuff. That stuff is bad because not only will it not cab well but it also wont tumble well. These pieces came from a slab I bought at a show. Chuck

Chuck I know what you mean about the material, have only had a couple pieces come out of the tumbler that were good. Have about 30 pounds waiting to be slabbed. It's a bit of a pain to slab as the pieces are thinner along the preferred cutting axis which shows off the individual turritellas making it more of a challenge to clamp in the saw. At least a couple of the pieces are looking to be poor quality. Henry

Drummond Island Rocks and HankRocks - thanks for sharing your experiences...I don't feel so badly now about the slabs I've been cutting here lately. Noticeable fractures and pitting. I figured it was the nature of the material. It's a little saddening when you get a cut showing some great shells, only to see they're split by a fracture. Nature of the beast though!

I have only tumbled a small amount, but enough to know that quality varies a lot.
