I finally knocked a few out this weekend, including a few candidates for the contest. I just need to pick... I even made a few that are not freeforms, in shapes that I don't dislike making. Silver lace "onyx" (not onyx) tongue:DSC_2392_Silver lace "onyx" tongue by Stephan T., on Flickr Crazy lace freeform:DSC_2388_Mexican Crazy Lace Agate Freeform by Stephan T., on Flickr Brecciated jasper (Black Butte?) freeform:DSC_2404_California Coast Range brecciated jasper by Stephan T., on Flickr Amethyst sage that needs some scratch removal (not sure how I missed those):DSC_2375_Amethyst sage agate cabochon by Stephan T., on Flickr Picasso marble (I think):DSC_2340_Picasso Marble freeform by Stephan T., on Flickr "Chocolate milk" jasper (with bits of marshmallow and/or whipped cream) — food reference dedicated to johnw:DSC_2296_"Chocolate milk" jasper by Stephan T., on Flickr Graveyard Point plume agate:DSC_2341_Graveyard Point Plume agate by Stephan T., on Flickr As I've mentioned, I cab outside. The weather was beautiful(-ish) -- almost 75 degrees, but a bit windy. Definitely not normal for January.

Great to see some cabs Stephan! I like the colors and patterns in that Crazy Lace. The shape on that Brecciated Jasper is way cool! You know I'm not that good on identifications, but that looks like Picasso Marble to me...I just ordered some rough earlier today and spent some time on and off the last day and a half looking at a bunch of pics on Google. I really like the shape on that Chocolate Milk Jasper too! Really a great bunch of cabs...and I'm a bit envious of the weather!

Nice cabs, Stephen!
I love the Amy Sage (even with the scratches).
I think what you think is Picasso is actually Indian Blanket. I could be wrong, though. Maybe someone else will chime in with an opinion.

I imagine that you’ve noticed that I sort of gravitate toward variations on what I call the asymmetrical shield shape. Just wait until I get a picture of the crazy lace that does it justice! It took a very nice polish, and is hard to photograph without serious glare. The weather feels nice, but I’m getting worried. We need rain badly, or we’ll be on fire all summer again, if not longer. I think this Fall/Winter, we’ve had maybe three of four days of precipitation.

Thanks, Robin. I’ll get that sage done up right in short order. Have to do justice to purple material, after all. The possible Picasso Marble ID was a guess based on a small piece, and softness, but a shot in the dark. Hardness was similar to the silver lace “onyx,” meaning that the 220 grit wheel cut through it like butter. I’ll see what others say. I can see either one.

Weather in Lafayette, CA was up about 20 degrees from the mid 50's. Unfortunately, I had a cold and was unable to work. I started on a few 3 days ago. Today, it cooled off but warm enough to work outside. Very windy today. I think we have had more rain than you. Tomorrow it is suppose to be in the mid 60's and then back to the mid 50's. I guess I will do some work tomorrow. 60 is my cut off for working outside.

I believe it is Picasso, not Indian Paint Stone. This based on color and pattern. Some much like it currently for sale on Etsy.

Two things: 1) Is Picasso Marble a "softer" stone? 2) I forgot to say I loved the thread title!
