Hi Momma, long time to see. Is that rock really that purple? I wouldn't toss it, I'd try to tumble it with something of similar hardness. Trish .... lol I throw rock away all the time, it's the stuff that should have been leaverite but I forgot to leaverite where I found it.

Yes, has been a loooong time. Yes, most of the rocks I found are dark to light purple or green or blue or mix like clear and purple. I took a 5 gallon bucket with me and I filled it up about a quarter of the way would that be enough to tumble together and should I put plastic pellets with it in every stage.

I never put pellets in the coarse grit but I do in all the following stages. Sounds like it would be very pretty, be ready to take more pics. Maybe someone will come along who has done that stuff and can help.

Don't throw it away...throw it in a rock garden if you must. The untumbles rought stones make good contrast for the nice pretty shiney stuff...

from the pic i would tumble it, looks like it would go well,,, flourite / fluorite tumbles so easy. i have been doing fantasy cut bits on the cabbing wheel . it takes a nice shine and works very fast so it would tumble well, I started a batch years ago with t6 triangle tumble media and ran it for less than a week before goin to medium fine grit.( skipped coarse alltogether)

Bottom line, momma, it's just really soft. Start it out in 120/220 with lots of pellet to protect it. I think you can get beautiful results, just stay on top of it and check it frequently. Good Luck!

tumble it- should be a pretty easy go (and quick) start in 120/220 and check it every couple of days- I would cusion the later stages but probably skip the pellets in the first grind (I always consider the first stage as DO or DIE- show no mercy!) I think I would use a tin oxide for polish- maybe a cerium oxide- or even PPP (KD's Poor People's Polish) I would not use Aluminum Oxide as it is pretty hard and probably would leave this stuff very dull Good lucjk and have fun!

Thanks yall. Im going to get started today sometime. I hope they turn out ok. I have Lusterite II for a polish. Will that work if not I must go buy different kind. I well check them every 2 days yes or no any ideas. I dont want to loose them. I still have NOT been able to pull a batch out yet since I joind the forum. I totally suck at this. Or maby Im just being to anel about it. I see a crack and it needs more time. Till there is nothing left. I like the odd shapes but I hate the cracks. I want them perfect like others I have seen on the forum.

Ha perfection is something often strived for and never achieved! we are just real good at not photoing our flaws! Not familiar with Lusterite II - sometimes when tumbling- you just have to expect the flaws and accecpt them as they are!

I here ya. I will let it go this time. I just get that feeling that if it has a crack I did not leave it long enough. I have that irriated feeling when something doesnt look right. Always been that way. Everything has to have a place and the right look and position. I need to get over it. Just thinking about im getting irritated.
