Just wanted to see if I can post pics from photobucket. Just a couple of new poppy type jaspers from near my ranch at Hornitos, calif.

Sabre-
Nice looking local rock. Did you cut them yourself? What other goodies do you find locally?

Howdy gaetz, Actually the entire valley where I have a ranch is Jurrasic chert strewn through greenstone , hematite and rhyolite. The usual material is green and purple banded chert but many other varieties abound. So far I've found brecciated jaspers mainly in shades of red and purple, a deposit of nodular poppy jaspers we call Primrose Jasper, three veins of orbicular jasper, a couple of types of flowering types (Cosmos and Firefly jasper), and even some opal. Several of my pastures seem to have stuff scattered everywhere and two entire hilltops are loaded but the rub is grass and brush covers most all the country rock and only grading of roads, cuts for watertanks, or creekbeds expose specimens. I'l see if I can get some pics and post them soon..........Mel (sabre52)

Ooooooo I'd love to see some of the green and purple banded chert, that sounds gorgeous! And the other jaspers too, sounds like you live in rock heaven!
