First few are quartzite and maybe one or two actual quartz. The one that looks like granite with green stripes in unakite. I see a few metamorphic granites in there as well.

Somewhat, if light colored and not too thick. It is not as translucent as quartz, nut I wouldn't exactly call it opaque either.

We get some granite around here that looks like #11. Some of the rest should take a nice polish.

Quartz, granite and epidote are my votes. I have yet to find any true agate along the north shore of Lake Ontario. Still it is fun to look. Never know what the glaciers dropped.

I can’t wait to polish these. Rock 12 seems to have banded layers of green on its side.

Yeah I was thinking the green is probably epidote too. These rocks were found on the south shore of Lake Ontario. I’ve yet to find a true agate with banding on Lake Ontario but some of the quartz I’ve found allow light all the way through and seem to have moss agate like stuff inside it. It will be interesting to seem some of the rocks after the rough tumbling stage. Those glaciers had to of dropped some true agates into Lake Ontario to find!

The agate from northern Ontario was more to the west. I still look and am always hopeful. Lots of quartz to be found and some of the colours are from staining. I might give it a go again later this week, just for something to do and the dog will have a nice walk.

I found tons of quartz when from this spot which is just fine for me for now since I’m only 6 months into my Rockhounding adventures, especially with the nice colors from staining. The beach were I got these rocks felt very unpicked, so I’m very hopeful for when I can go back in the summer to find a banded beauty. Walking the lake and doing a Little Rockhounding is my go to now for something to do and daisy sure does seem to enjoy those nice walks. She is such a sweet dog.
