All - thought I'd take some pics of this as it goes along - here they are after 5 recharges at 80. This batch is all the small-mediums - this is where I can see a few more fridge magnets being born! This batch is the "Dobba" batch - a few large chunks and the smaller ones are being sacrificed to get those smooth. Ill have to put a bit more in I think to get them grinding more. This batch contains the long thin ones - Im hoping to make a few pendants for keyrings - or maybe even a necklass. Another couple of goes at 80 for most of these - but some are coming out today and can wait for their 220 - as Im worried they may chip.

WoW Mark, you have some beautiful pieces in there, the wood grain is gorgeous. Any special plans for them when they are done?

Looking good, Mark. To my eye, most of that looks ready to move to 220, but maybe you can see some small flaws on really close inspection?

That is one pretty bunch of wood, Mark. Can't wait to see the final polish. I'm particularly interested in seeing what you do with the finished pieces as I have a couple barrels-ful of wood awaiting the tumbler. I know, I know--just buy a new tumbler. It probably will come to that, but not for another couple months.

Gotta love that pet wood. And the refrigerator magnet thing is perfect for the "too big to make jewelry out of" pieces. I'd pull a couple of cracked ones and move the rest to 120-220, you can always throw them in the next batch. Looking good!

Nice looking wood and I'm sure it's gonna be awesome when it's polished. And you said you weren't very good at woodworking! Like your fridge magnets too.

Mark-
That stuff is really looking great. I'll bet you can't wait to get that batch finished 'eh? They really look like they have some nice patterns in them and color too.
I love the one in the 2nd pict at 11 o'clock. Looks pretty fine to me.

Its good to have the barrels rolling again - the last lot I did was a bit of a disaster (green aventurine with some blue) - reason being there was a big chunk in there which I particularily wanted polishing but it trashed the rest and isnt finished so I need to buy some more and couldnt drive - but I can now. Gotta be very very patient with this lot - as most of it will end up in a medium sized glass vase as a present. For the polish they get new barrels so as to be as good as it gets. Gonna be about 3-4 weeks now before they are done. Anyone know how old it is - I reckon anywhere from 370 million years to 100 million years old. I think the Carboniferous era started around 370 million years ago - could be wrong though. Thats the good thing about fossils - you also have the "age" angle to come from which generally people find "incredible" to imagine time so long ago. Luv the stuff
