Howdy folks, Still trying to figure out the pics with my new camera so I'll try again. Hope the size is OK this time. This is the good agatized Texas turritella from the Rio Grande gravel. Better contrast and extremely hard chert matrix. For scale , the longest shells here are about two inches DSCN1050 by lonerider652000, on Flickr

Really like the size of each larger shell here, lets the patterns shine. Overall, the softer death-plate specimen you showed has more impact for me, but can see how this cherty stuff would be great for lapidary!

When it comes to Turritella, I tend to think of cabs that can be made from it. However, I don't think I could touch a blade to this one or the softer death plate in the other thread. Sabre52 - thank you for posting these! The pics look great and it seems you're figuring out the new camera!
