Cher, you did an exquisite job on that rock you sent me. Very impressive and inspiring. My wife loves it and I think it is going to make her want to learn the craft even more. Thank you Cher, very much. Once again, magnificent!

You are more than welcome Earthdog. You did a great job on that piece, it was the first time I wrapped something that shape so I'm really tickled that you and your wife like it.

I was so ecstatic When it came today, I was in a hurry to take the pictures and get it up and show it off, that I forgot to put something next to it for size. Sorry. Wife is taking it along with some other nice pieces to work and show them off tomorrow.

That is an awesome rock and wrap. The teamwork meshed on that one. I love those swirls on the upper left of the piece Cher. How do you do that? What size and "hardness" of wire is that? It is a beautiful piece of jewelry you guys. Thanx for showing pics. Joe

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Joe, the wire is 12K gold filled 22 gauge dead soft. Do you mean the swirls in the 2nd pic where it's 3 wires together? If so, I have a very hard time doing those, probably redid them at least 4 or 5 times before I got them right. The ones on the other side are wrapped around a small tube then stretched a little. Tweety, not sure what the stone is, but I'm thinking some type of agate. There's a pretty large section thats very transparent, it's really pretty held up to the light.

Cher, thank you for the wire info. Yes those are the swirls I mean, the second pic ones. What type of technique did you use to make them? The wire still looks great, so it must be very forgiving if you had to do it 4or 5 times. I like forgiving wire. Joe

The dead soft is pretty forgiving though each time you straighten it out (with the plastic jawed pliers) it gets a little stiffer. I just hold the three wires together, kind of pinched between my fingers and slowly bend it into the circle with my other hand. You don't just wrap it aroud, it's more like your sort of smoothing the wire into a circle. It's not easy to keep the wires flat and so they don't start to overlap each other, which is why it gets straightened out so many times. It's well worth it though, when you get it in the right shape. There's lots of other twirls I've seen but I haven't attempted them yet, not brave enough I guess.

Wow! real nice! Now I've got to learn both silversmithing and wire wrapping. If I can ever find the time *L*

Ok, I kind of get it. I managed to do it with one wire. Now for three... It is well worth it 'cause it looks really good. You're brave in my book for attempting that swirl with three wires! I just bought plastic jaw pliers last week and am still CLUMSY with them. Oh well, more practice. Joe
