After being in this hobby for 13 years or so, I finally sold my first cabochon. I've always considered this a hobby, just for fun, and to make some shiny things for my daughters. I have to thank my beautiful Miss Ali for the inspiration to make the leap. Without her inspiration I wouldn't have thought to do it. MsAli So my first ever sale is a Bat Cave Jasper cab. I Also cut 2 more. This one I decided to cut the opposite of a "normal" bat cave cab. (please excuse the lint on the cab) And lastly this funky teardrop. At first I didn't care for this because of the matrix on it, but Ali liked it. After looking at it again I decided to finish it and I'm glad I did, as it's pretty dramatic. Thanks for looking!

They're all great cabs and I can see why that first one sold. It's amazing!
Glad you listened to Ali. I like that last cab, too.
What platform are you selling on, Nate? Do a little self-promotion and put it in your signature.

Thank you for the kind words everyone. I didn't want this hobby to become a job, and Ali showed me it doesn't have to be. She's an amazing person and I'm lucky to be walking this path beside her! hummingbirdstones thanks for the nudge to post the shop. We're selling on Etsy and I added the shop to my signature.

What Nate didn't say is that I had a lady request to have some cabochons done from Bat Cave. She didn't even hesitate when I showed her the cab and scooped it up before I even listed it. And I can't blame her, it is stunning! Absolutely incredible job 👏 NDK you are so good at this and I'm super happy you are on this journey with me 💗

All three of those are incredible! No wonder it sold quickly. The other two would probably sell just as quick.
The "reverse" bat cave looks just as good as the regular way, but that third one with the matrix looks very cool! Very dramatic indeed!

Great cabs! That first one absolutely glows!! The third one has a very cool look about it. Just shedding it's skin.

Congratulations on your first sale. I made about 2,000 cabs over 20 years and had little interest in selling. The reason I didn't sell was I wanted to spend my free time creating. When I retired, I had free time and 2,000 cabs, but it took me 3 more years to list a cab. The biggest advantage to selling is to buy whatever I want and not feel bad about it. As a hobbyist I had a limit on what I could go after. The better the material the more fun it can be making cabs.

All are beauties, but the first one stands out! Perfect work on it, very bold shape. Reminds me of Dan's cabs, he used to post his great cabs several years ago and most of them had such hollow edges and pointy ends.

Thanks again everyone. This has been quite a journey. It's an amazing hobby with so many avenues and this is such a great group to be involved with. Adrian, highplainsdrifter Dan's cabs were certainly something to aspire to. I have looked through old threads to show Ali his work. Would be great to see him post again.
