Howdy, Still messing with my digital camera. Thought I'c post a couple of pics from my most recent trip to the North Cady Mountains ne of Barstow, Calif. First pic is a nodule of plume which weighs about 5 pounds. Next is a piece from a vein of plume I escavated over a two day period.

OMG that's beautiful. Wish I had something worth trading but the jasper I have around here just doesn't compare. I've got hematite but I think you mentioned that you have that also. Oh well, that kind of stuff needs to be slabbed and that's something I can't do.

Sabre-
That is some absolutely stunning material you've found.
What do you do w/ your stuff? Do you slab it, cab it and wrap it or are you the bashing, tumbling sort?
Coool stuff dude,
Gaetz

Gaetz: I have a couple of saws so I slab the larger hunks. Break the smaller for tumbles. For my collection , I try to get the best and most unusual slab specimens I can find. I also polish some flats for my case and cut and polish cabs that are representative of my best finds. Of course, lots of my stuff is swapped with my buddies, donated to my gem club for it's auctions or mounted in jewelry to give to the many ranchers or rancher's wives who allow me entry into their land to hunt. ( good public relations is a must where all the areas are privately owned!). Also sell a few slabs through E-Bay to pay for new blades, wheels, international rough etc. You know though, for me the thrill is in the hunt. I love to hike the back country and explore all the old mines to see what I can find!
