Before and after Fairburn. The first one was nickel and copper, I liked it (especially the shape of the heart) but thought I might like this one better groove wrapped. As you can see, I'm still having a bit of an issue with depth on the grooves. I went too deep on the bottom and a little shallow on the bottom right. Not much I could do, however besides wrap it. I sure wasn't going to throw the stone away! Thanks for looking.

You'll get the hang of the depth of cut. I have faith in you! I'll never lie to you...so to be honest, I loved the look of the way you wrapped it to start with. I think it was a great choice for the two-tones on the wire and the heart at the top was fantastic. I really love the way you captured the druzy pocket in the stone. Really a great job with that!

I liked it, too. Maybe more than the rewrap. But I wasn't a fan of the nickel- and I personally don't really like copper. I do need to order some more gold wire, however. Two-tone wires look good to me on some stones. Anyway, thanks Jason!

Mike, I wish you hadn't re-wrapped this. But I really like the first one, and was about to comment on how much I liked it, when I saw the picture of the re-wrap pop up. I hope you don't mind me saying so...

I hope you don't mind me saying so... Nope, I don't mind at all. That's why I post what I've done, to get feedback. Although I did like the first one, I wasn't a big fan of the copper. Maybe I should have just border wrapped it again with silver, I don't know. Either way, I appreciate your input, Bill!

I too am a fan of the original wrap but totally understand you wanting to redo it. Copper isn't always a good choice however there are stones that almost demand copper. Perhaps you'd like copper better if you tried oxidizing it after you wrap with it. Tela works with a lot of copper and her oxidation method brings out the best in the stones she wraps in copper. The groove wrap is nice because it lets the stone be the focus even more so than a border wrap.

I think I would have liked the groove wrap better if I had done a better job with it. Both the groove and the bail...

It's actually fun to see the difference in the wire. I think the groove wrap looks good. Remember you're your own worst critic.

Mike, I hope my last comment didn't come off as being too critical or negative. But it could have been taken that way for sure. Also it wasn't my intent to discourage you from making new types of wraps using the new groove cutting tool either. I like the first one because of a few reasons. First, I have always liked your use of square wire and in particular the bends you use for the frame and how it accents the features in the rock. Yours are unique. It looks like someone went to effort to make an art piece more than just a pendant. Your wraps are artistic. Plus lately I am really liking to use different colors in wraps. And I think this is one of the first one I've seen of yours that has two different colored wires. And I like how the binding wire goes all the way around the whole frame like that too. They really compliment the color in the rock too. Well anyway I probably didn't make it sound any better here, but I like the new one because you can see more of the stone, and it is a really nice stone too. So it worked out well I think. I better stop typing.

Thanks Bill. And honestly, I really do appreciate any and all input that someone takes the time to give me. It's an "If I didn't want to know I wouldn't ask" kind of thing, if you know what I'm saying. So please feel free to let me know what you think anytime!
