I got a chance to go back to the lap club today and finished up what I had started last time. My 2 leopardskin cabs and one piece of mexican crazy lace that I had to saw in half and them try to cab (I wrapped that one) Here is the one that was almost finished last time This one had been roughed out and turned out to be my favorite after that Then once I sawed this one in half, it then became my favorite - but it was very hard to grind down and it took a very, very long time to grind down but I think it turned out spectacular for a first try - the shine is amazing on all three Here it is wrapped in craft wire as I couldn't find my sterling silver wire. I'll probably re-wrap it as I now found the wire, but I find the purple wire kinda suits the stone. I need to get better lighting though - the colors are crap inside. This was all done on SC machines. Wow what I could do on the diamond machine... Thanks for looking This

No way Alice, going to this club only costs me $2 each time I go + $20 per year for a family membership! But this time I got 2 1"x3" slabs of tiger eye for $1 each

NIce job Tweetie! That Leopardskin Jasper can be a tough stone to work. I have a bear of a time getting a decent polish on mine! Love the reds in the bottom of the second cab!

very good work, those look great, the purple wire works very well from what i can see of that stone. as for hte using of someone elses equipment i can appriciate that, and the price is so right for the club, i dont even want to think about how much equipment i own and what it cost, and the upkeep / maintainance costs.
speaking of odd bits of art equipment, any one want to buy ( or trade for) a very good darkroom set up,, LOL

Beautiful, Tweets, all of them. I do love the third one as I have a thing for clear inclusions on stones, gives them depth. I can tell by the reflection that pics don't do them justice. Don't that just knot your panties? YOU know how beautiful they are, but we have to imagine. Great Job!

Awesome job Tweet, that sounds like a really good deal you get at the club. I'd sure go if I had a place like that and could use the equipment for only $2.

Tweets-
Just love the first one. I don't think I've ever seen a shape like that before and really like it.
Good job.

That leopardskin is something else. Nice job. So, let's see here: I need more tumblers, a saw, a grinder and cabbing machine. Oh, and about 10 more hours a day. matt

Great job tweet- I wish I could get the shine like you got! What did you use for finishing- Did you go from 600 to polish or did they have something in between? what polish did you use?

Stefan this was from 600 and into an "old fashioned flat lap" (see the flat lap thread explaining what I've been using) and it,s polished on this horizontal wheel for about a minute or two (the cloth round has a cerium oxide solution splashed on it before using. It works amazingly well I was really impressed with the final result - one of those "I can't believe I did that" moments!

Very cool Tweetie. Those stones look great, but I think you're having way too much fun. Only 2 dollars a visit? I wish there was a club like that here. That really beats saving up for tools. Oh well.. Joe

Those look great, and there is nothing wrong in using color wire to bring out the beauty of a stone. Tami
