When you let the Lot-O run a half hour or so with sugar to get everything well mixed before adding polish.
And you have a batch of apache tears and sheen obsidian that doesn't seem to be polishing like it should. 3 days. 4 days. Twenty four hours of burnish.
And then it FINALLY dawns on you that the slurry doesn't have the milky color that it should, because you never added the polish.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who has done this. 🤦♂️🤣
ETA: For NO polish, the rocks are surprisingly shiny. Almost tempted to run them a week longer to see if they polish. Almost.

I suspect everybody has done this .. but not everybody notices and wonders why things didn't turn out so good or took forever.

I really hope I'm laughing WITH you and not AT you! I know me...now that I've read this and chuckled, I'm going to do the same type of thing and waste a weeks' worth of tumbling time! I do feel badly for you...but it's likely only a time waster and thankfully not a material waster.

I'm sure that it is possible to shape and polish rocks to a shine without using any grit at all.

That’s not really an oops. It is just an oop-purtunity to learn something new! My life is full of those. 😀
